PSO Colour Management

Newstyle Printing are pleased to anounce the recent implementation of PSO (Process Standard Offset-printing) for managing our printing process to greatly improve the quality of colour reproduction compared to the AS/ISO 12647-2:2008 Australian print standard specifications.

From March 2009 Newstyle will be implementing improvements to working practices to ensure that we are providing the client with the best possible printed results using the international guidelines of the standard and the process specifications defined by FOGRA & BVDM in Germany.

What is AS/ISO12647-2:2008 Australian printing standard?

The AS/ISO 12647-2:2008 standard is recognized around the world as being the leading standard that all printers should strive to achieve and maintain. AS/ISO 12647-2:2008 specifies a number of process parameters and their values to be applied when preparing colour separations for four-colour offset printing.

What is PSO?

Process Standard Offset-printing is about the processes followed in the print shop to ensure consistency to AS/ISO 12647-2:2008 printing specifications. PSO strictly follows the specifications defined in AS/ISO 12647-2:2008 and complements them with some more rules based on ISO12647-7 proofing standard for digital proofing technology.

A company that operates using PSO is a company that is working within strict guidelines to ensure predictable and high quality results of the finsihed product.

Moving forward, Newstyle will be heading towards printing and proofing to ISO Coatedv2 and ISO Uncoated colourspace and by measuring the printed sheets and digital proofs we can ensure we are producing work to within the AS/ISO 12647-2:2008 specifications.

What does this mean for Newstyle and it's clients?

  • Customer confidence that we are printing to a well known, widely accepted intenational printing standard.
  • Improved colour printing on coated and uncoated stocks.
  • A much closer finished print result between coated and uncoated stocks.
  • Proofs will closely match the printed sheet.
  • Predictable reprinting of jobs.
  • Reduced wastage of paper and ink and reduced sign-off time.

Newstyle is commited to working with you the customer so that we can achieve the best results possible now and in the future. More and more companies in Australia are adapting to the ISO standard and Newstyle will be working closely with clients and suppliers to ensure we become fully compliant to these standards.
